..."And Then She Wept" Contempoprary Still-Life Oil paintings by Paula peacock

"...And Then She Wept"
by Paula Peacock
Oil on Eucalyptus on Birch
18" x 24"
I did this painting after being contacted by a non-profit who wanted an image for their website representing the fight against domestic abuse against women and children. "..And Then She Wept" brings awareness to women being abused physically, emotionally, sexually, mentally with the violence spreading to the children. She is trapped in a relationship knowing that it hurts to stay in & would hurt to get out of. She is broken in mind, body, & spirit & has grown too weak to protect her children.
The painting was on their website for many years. If you know of someone in such a relationship don't stand idly by. Contact the authorities and put the situation on their radar. For purchasing info contact Paula HERE. See more of my work HERE

'Vivication' 24" x 30", Oil on Canvas, Contemporary Realism Oil Paintings by Paula Peacock

Vivication

by Paula Peacock
24" x 30"
Oil on Canvas

Vivication, rebirth, spiritual awakening is what this painting represents. In a sea of the unknown, of what lays beyond, and of what lays beneath a woman is reborn, emerging from a lotus flower to a deeper understanding of spirit, of unconditional love, to experience a deep connection with All That Is. She has released the fear of death and stands her truth. She knows the meaning and purpose of her life here and understands the suffering of humanity, she has an awareness and the ability to stay balanced and centered amid the storms of life. She is Love, Gratitude, Light, Compassion, Healer, Teacher and sees the Divine in every single one of us. She has awakened and shares her Inner Freedom with those who are waiting and anticipating their awareness.

'Double Departure' by Contemporary Realism Still-Life Artist Paula Peacock

Double Departure by Paula Peacock
Oil on Canvas
16" X 20"

In 2014 I lost my little sister to breast cancer and my son was killed 6 months later. This painting honors the people I lost. The monk figurine represents me and the two monks in the mirror represent my son and my sister. I am on this side and they have transitioned to the other side yet we will always remain connected as shown by the thin white ribbon. The white butterflies on the other side(in the mirror) are indicative of angels (for me). The nautilus indicates my mental state at the time, trapped, alone, yet protected by the outer walls I had erected while I dealt with grief.

"Lilies with Critters' Contemporary Realism Still Life by Paula Peacock

'Lilies with Critters'
by Paula Peacock
24 in. X 30 in.
Oil on Canvas

This painting signifies an awakening for me. After the killing of my son, I went into a major depression and found myself creating dark paintings. I realize now I was creating a visual journal of depression and grief. Thirteen paintings & six sculptures later the heaviness left me and this painting is indicative of me waking up, coming out of my cocoon. It represents an active Springtime when insects and birds become busy with an air of excitement, renewal, and growth. You will find a snail, a ladybug, a butterfly and a hummingbird. Art really is therapeutic and I would be the first to say, it saved my life.
