The
Narcissists' Mirror
28" x 34"
Oil on Canvas
by Paula Peacock
A wilted and almost dried
up daffodil (scientific name narcissus) gazes into a tri-folding mirror and
sees only himself as beautiful and all else (the purple tulip) surrounding him
as not as perfect, beautiful or as delightful as he sees himself to be. When in
reality, it is he who is ugly on the inside and outside because of his conceit.
The dragonfly represents self delusion and the bubbles allude to the brevity of
life.
