Monument Canyon, Impressionist Colorado Landscape Painting, Fine Art Oil Painting,“Overlook” by Colorado Contemporary Fine Artist Jody Ahrens

An unconventional interpretation of a monolith in Monument Canyon, Colorado National Monument. Pale colors, decisive, thick spatula strokes and the slightly foggy background diminish the harshness of this stark territory.

Cottonwood Trees, Devil's Kitchen Trail, Impressionist Colorado Landscape Painting, “Ballad of Time” by Colorado Contemporary Fine Artist Jody Ahrens

Impressionist Colorado Landscape Painting, Fine Art Oil Painting “Walker Cabin” by Colorado Contemporary Fine Artist Jody Ahrens

FRESH OFF THE EASEL

This isolated homestead can be found deep in Colorado’s Unaweep Canyon. It was built by the Walker family in 1911, who were Delta County stone masons. As many as 11 children and grandchildren lived in this 30’ x 27’ cabin while additional family dwellings were being built. In addition, one room was usually occupied by the rural school teacher. Today, many people have living rooms that are 30' x 27'.
