A trip to the island of Hawaii provided the inspiration for "Lunar Glow." Earlier in the year I had started to become enamored with taking photographs of the full moon which I in turn used for reference photos. This calling continued while on Hawaii but required getting up in the middle of the night to take photographs.
I found it surprising that I never needed an alarm clock to awaken 2-3 times a night for 3 nights to take in the quiet and intrigue of the full moon gleaming over the rocky shoreline. At the hour, it was awe inspiring and you could feel a oneness with the world.
Though I used fairly intense colors, do you still feel a sense of wonder and tranquility? What feelings does this painting conjure up for you?16"x 20""x1.5" Oil on Panel/Available
