As I continue to explore the concept of bones, this social statement came to my mind late one night. I could not resist. And because I drew the hand and its skeleton many years ago, it seemed appropriate to bring it back into my work.

The vibrant color palette was chosen to project that these systems are alive and well in all of us. How do you take care of yours? Our pelvis provides us with the center core we need in order to move, stand, sit, run, etc. It also serves as a protector of many of our internal organs. I am inspired by its elegance while being essential to our ability to enjoy life.

Why the marble? What does it make you think of? Life is all about balance. I am using the marble as the reminder that when we maintain a healthy balance our lives are more enjoyable and perhaps increases our longevity.

The marble is also an addition of whimsy and curiosity. Does it make you smile?

Isn't our pelvis an amazing structure? Then add the hip bones and they create quite an image. In this painting I wanted to convey a sense of dancing or rocking of the hips. Do you feel it?

Once again, the marble is inserted as a surprise element. It represents life's precious balance as well as a little levity.
