Abstract Landscape Painting "Released" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre
Double jaw surgery in August 2010 impacted my artmaking. The surgery increased my airway 4 fold, hence I now experience more air and more REM sleep. "Released!" was inspired by this surgery and my Colorado surroundings.

Abstract Landscape Painting "Unearthing Dreams" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre
The results of my recent jaw surgery has opened up my airway significantly. Consequently, I am experiencing dreams much more frequently than I have ever experienced in my life. Air and dreams, though allusive, was a challenging combination to tackle in a painting. What do you think? This is also my largest canvas to date.

Abstract Landscape Painting "Coming Up for Air" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre
"Coming Up for Air," continues my exploration of celebrating air. As one who has spent a lot of time in the water and watched air bubbles scramble to the surface, this image developed in my mind's eye. Originally I titled this painting "Quiet Depths," but a long time friend suggested the current title and I found it more telling.
"Coming Up for Air" won the People's Choice Award at the Art Matters Gallery & Studio in Salida, CO in September 2011! It is a great honor to win this award.

Contemporary Realism Landscape Painting " A Silent Tack" by Contemporary Realism Artist Carol A. McIntyre
Double jaw surgery in late 2010, inspired a new body of work I entitled, "Celebrating Air." Though air is weightless, it is vital to our mind, body and spirit as conveyed in this painting. And who knows where this new quantity of air will lead me?
Where does "A Silent Tack" take you? Does it conjure up a memory or any other thoughts? What does the key mean to you? Here is what my friend Jim wrote: "Bubbles burst... eventually. Take advantage of the moment when one drifts by. It may be much harder to locate those keys after the bubble bursts."
This painting is gallery wrapped, which means it does not need to be framed and is ready to hang.
