"Transformation", Original Mixed Media Painting by Colorado Artist, Donna L. Martin

"Transformation"

Lately, there have been alot of changes and "transformations" in my life.  This latest painting symbolizes the changes and the beauty that can eventually come from the "mess" of life.

I think all of us become lost at times or stuck.  The trick is to keep on plowing through the mess and realize there is beauty at the end of the storm.

This painting is fresh off the easel.  Feel free to send me a message with comments or questions, or if you are interested in purchasing.

"Breakthrough", Original Mixed Media Painting by Colorado Artist, Donna L. Martin

"Breakthrough"

Well, once again it's a New Year and rather than settling on resolutions, I'm trying to pick a word.  This is my first painting of the New Year and the "word", at least for this piece, was "Breakthrough".

This is a small mixed media piece, 6 X 12, 1.5 deep, constructed on cradle board.  It was layered and painted, using sheet music and various papers.  These photos show the piece before it was resined.  It is now coated with with a glassy resin finish, so there is no need for framing.

This little "Breakthrough" is available.  Feel free to send me an email with any questions or comments.

KMD2989 Wildflower Medley by Colorado contemporary artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (5x7, oil, landscape, wildflowers)

I have another plethora of pictures from Crested Butte taken last month when the wildflowers were at thier peak. Every hillside was an array of either purples or yellows and a feast for the eyes. This scene was on the road between the town of Crested Butte and the ski area. My friend Pat and I spent quite a bit of time trying to capture every square inch of this scene on our cameras!

5x7 original oil unframed
$125 plus $10 shipping and handling

KMA2981 Morning Prelude by Colorado contemporary artists Kit Hevron Mahoney (acrylic, 10x10, abstract landscape)

This is an exploration into abstracting a landscape using my acrylic paints on a wood panel board. I applied a texture base on it before starting to paint it. I then used many layers of paint on the texture to create some interesting effects as the brush skips over the raised portions of the texture leaving paint marks in unexpected shapes. My challenge was to create an interpretation of the landscape without a lot of definition, the old "less is more" philosophy. Once I am finished with some great commissions that I am working on, I plan to tackle more of these intuitive paintings. 10"x10" original acrylic on 1" panel board $295+ $25 shipping and handling See more paintings on my blog Visit my website Daily Painters of Colorado

“Blowing and Drifting…” 9-12” Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

“Blowing and Drifting…”

9"x12" Original Pastel Painting

by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

$225.00...+ Shipping

This pastel painting is a painting of memory and a little bit of fiction. It is an impression piece, I suppose. While growing up in Montana and Wyoming (and a host of other places which are not important right now) the weather forecast was often, “blowing and drifting snow”. If you’ve spent any winter time in the windy plains north of the Rockies, you’ll know what I mean. You might not be having falling snow at the time, but the ground blizzards can be ferocious and deadly. I remember riding many times with my family and having everyone at a car window calling out the white, (can you believe it???) center lines on the highway or the edges of the barrow pit and mile markers on the other side so that whoever was driving would know where he or she was on the road. So, when I painted this piece, I wanted to capture the isolation of the ranch, the mountains in the background, and the effects of the ground blizzard, reshaping the landscape by the minute. These were cold winter days which were miserable outside, but warm and cozy when you went into the house.
I used Wallis sanded paper as the ground and a mix of soft pastels. This painting is matted and framed out to a 12 x 16 size, ready for hanging. Although, if purchased matted but unframed, the shipping would be less but will need to be framed under glass.

“Ducks at Dusk” 5” x 7” Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

“Ducks at Dusk”

 5” x 7” Original Pastel Painting

by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

$125.00...+ Shipping

I used Wallis sanded paper as the ground and a mix of soft pastels. I love to try to capture the variations of light in the evening and early morning. The ducks gave ripples to the water which caught various reflections. The sun is red reflecting through the trees…what an enjoyable little painting to do.
