This piece is the second in the Interstice - Monochrome Series.  Based on the idea of Interstice - the space in between, the work exemplifies the play of space, textures, contrasts, and movement.  Working with the medium of encaustic (pigmented bees wax plus damar resin), the translucency of the paint allows for the subtleties of layers and color.  Using the concept of opposites, they define each other and make each other known, thus enhancing the contrast within the painting.
