Contemporary Colorado Landscape Painting, Fine Art Oil Painting “Along the Ridge” by Colorado Contemporary Fine Artist Jody Ahrens

This painting started out on a 16 x 24” panel. The Junipers silhouetted on top of a small, but friendly cliff seemed to cry out for a tall format. In spite of multiple adjustments during the painting process, the cliffs dominated the trees and there was no subject. But the trees were the original inspiration. One of the advantages of working on panel – it can cut it down at any stage of the painting process. Now you know why so many of the old master’s paintings are such odd sizes.
